Decatur became a Main Street Alabama designated community in June, 2014. Main Street Alabama works with Decatur to examine the downtown area’s needs and opportunities and develop a long-term, incremental strategy based on the Main Street Four-Point Approach™. Main Street Alabama provides consulting services, support, training, materials, and information to assist a revitalization organization throughout its growth.

The Downtown Decatur Merchant and Business Association works to maintain downtown as the center of commerce, government, culture and leisure. DDMBA members support the overall vitality of downtown through public advocacy and community events that enhance the Decatur experience for residents and visitors.
