With construction complete, the fully restored Railroad Depot was dedicated on March 26, 2016. This historical structure is now restored into a functional building and critical economic development component for the City Center. A portion of the building will house the traffic division of the Decatur Police Department, which should be fully moved in by the end of summer 2016.
The balance of the building is being developed into a Historic Transportation Museum under the guidance of City Historian, David Breland. The museum should be fully functional and ready to open right in early 2017. A much needed city parking lot located across the street from the Railroad Depot is included in the project as well.
