Ingalls Harbor, a joint venture between the city of Decatur and several civic organizations, has quickly become one of the best bass fishing spots in the nation. Each year, Ingalls Harbor is host to several national fishing tournaments including the Bassmaster Elite, Wal-Mart FLW Series, and American Bass Anglers. One of the first elements of the Envision Decatur plan to be completed, Ingalls brought over $1 million to the local economy between its 2005 Phase I completion and 2007.
Located on approximately 21 acres on the banks of the Tennessee River near downtown Decatur, Alabama, Ingalls Harbor provides additional development opportunities including restaurant and commercial opportunities, residential development, retail and more.
Phase 1 of the Ingalls Harbor project included:
- Land acquisition
- Soil testing
- Trees/brush removal
- Boat launch
- Bank stabilization
- Drain pipe
- Water lines
- Gravel parking
Phase 2 of the Ingalls Harbor project is currently underway and will include:
- Construction of a pavilion
- Construction of other support buildings
- Land/water construction
- Addition of riverboat docking facilities
- Development of riverfront retail establishment
